winning practices of super salespeople

Regardless of where you stand in your organization, business, venture, or life in general right now, you can win from there. Begin today putting into practice these best practices, or "winning traits" of super salespeople.1. "Never, never, never quit." You must KNOW what you want to achieve! You MUST know your "Why." That sounds cliche sometimes, but it is true! The only way you will remain totally committed to your goals is to have a reason for doing so. Anything that may seem like a defeat, is simply a temporary setback, and a lesson to be learned. I always like to say, "If it doesn't kill you, it will only make you stronger."2. Practice Self-Mastery. Self-Mastery is developed when youtop doing what you know you shouldn't do, and start doing what you know you should - no matter how you may feel about it. Do the right things, and do them right. Have a sense of urgency to make sure you always conquer these fundamentals every day.3. You cannot over prepare. Continually accumulate information you can use. This will give you a competitive edge. Have the facts and figures ready, and be prepared before you enter an interview or presentation. DO YOUR HOMEWORK. Mastermind with people who know what you need to know. Be the best-informed person about your subject that your prospects will ever meet. You will earn their respect, and probably gain their business too.4. Build relationships. Build trust in all you do by being 100% reliable. If you don't know the answer to a question, be honest and find it later. Stay in touch with the person, not just the sale. Be the same person everywhere. Take off the "sales" mask and be real with people and they will accept you and grow to trust you - Trust is the key to earning someones business.5. Be and remain self-confident. Do this by feeding your mind regularly just like you feed your body. What have you read, listened to lately that builds your knowledge, character and attitude? Confidence is not the absence of fear, it is the conquest of fear. Do the things you are afraid of and you'll develop a confident, winning attitude and feeling that attracts people to WANT to do business with you.6. Enthusiasm shines! There is enough negative stuff in our everyday lives. Bad news floods the airwaves. Co-workers can be downers. Everyone has something personal they are struggling with. If you can generate excitement with an infectious attitude, you will stand out. You will not even have to generate excitement about your product - your enthusiasm will do that in and of itself.7. Be an assistant buyer. Prospects are best convinced to make a decision by reasons they themselves discover. Once you establish trust, you can help them recognize a need and guide them to act on a solution. People are only interested discussing business with you when you engage them in a conversation to address issues that concern their priorities, concerns, and needs. Until that happens, they will not be open up to any proposal from you that may benefit them.8. Pay attention. Form the habit of being perceptive and listening carefully. Train your eyes to see and your ears to hear the prospect. Avoid the common problem of listening only for an opening for you to share your ideas. You will not be able to connect with your prospect unless you hear them. Remember, your offer is useless until they see the need for it in their life.9. Communicate with excellence. You sell with words, expressions, and stories. Study all three carefully, so you can effectively communicate the concepts of your offer. You must gain the prospect's understanding - that understanding depends greatly upon what you say and how you say it. I prefer to tell stories, and use pictures.10. Demand excellence of yourself. There are some times where being a perfectionist is acceptable. This would be one of those times. Excellence attracts. Excellence builds credibility. Excellence gains trust. Never tolerate mediocrity from yourself. There is no room for compromise among professionals.11. Stay fit. Being physically fit helps to develop the capacity to work hard and long. When you develop discipline in this area, it translates to every area of your life. Be a self-starter who displays high personal standards and a continual intensity to be your best.12. Clean your financial house. And keep it clean! Maintaining a personal budget isn't only in vogue these days, it is necessary. Know where your money is going before it goes. Tell your money where to go before you wonder where it went! That's what a budget does - it puts you in control. If you don't control your money, it will most certainly control you.13. Be persistent. Bounce back when times get tough. In any commission based industry like sales, you only fail when you quit. Success will eventually come if you persist. Don't stop digging because you could be only a few feet from gold. Resolve to perform what you should; and perform without fail. When you fall (and you will at some point), get up again and keep moving forward.
